Geo What?

On January 15, 2010 I was traveling on Delta Airlines on my way to St Meinrad Monastery. I had jumped at the opportunity to be a small group facilitator for my fraternities undergraduate presidents conference. While en route I happened to read the in flight magazine and came across what would become my geocaching adventure. Here is that article. I don't know what it was about the very small sparse article but something drew me to the game. When the plane landed I immediately downloaded the iphone app from itunes. Unfortunately for me at the monastery there was only one cache and it was in a place I was not prepared to go (on a big hike). The game would have to wait for my return to Sacramento. I cannot remember what happened the weekend after my return but the weekend after that we would begin to geocache. I convinced my wife to check geocaching out on Saturday January 30th. We loaded our son into the stroller and decided to go on find "Hunters first hide." having no idea what we were doing, we walled to this park and took forever to find a film container wrapped in camo tape that was barely hidden. I can't describe the excitement that came over us. It was like we'd just won the lottery. Although we had only found a film container with a scroll we were so excited. We quickly got on the GPS, located two more, about a quarter of a mile away and decided to go for it. We were not so lucky to find them.
