In geocaching there are icons that you earn on your profile for the different types of caches and events that you attend. In Sacramento there is a seven icon challenge for one day. Quadventure was going to go for it and invited me to join him. The day started out with an (1) event cache where we met with other cachers ate breakfast and prepared for an Cache In Trash Out event. There were about 20 different geocachers at this event. We then went for a standard (2)Traditional Cache right around the corner from the restaurant. Next we drove to an (3) Earthcache and learned about the Vernal Pools in Fair Oaks.
We left this cache and went to a (4)Virtual Cache were we learned about a bridge connecting Fair Oaks to Folsom.
After this we went to a (5) Cache In Trash Out event and picked up trash along the American River. This event had over 30 geocachers coming the trails for trash. There were also caches to be found in this area and we grabbed a (6) Letterbox cache. We also grabbed a traditional cache but it didn't count for the icon challenge.
To get the seven we went and grabbed a (7) Whereigo cache. this is a fun type of cache that works with the garmin GPS system. It took us on a tour of Folsom looking for gold. Starting on top of a parking structure.
We also navigated on top of the old folsom bridge.
Also along the river.
To find the gold and cache.
We also grabbed a few other cache on the way back to the cars like the one near the giant chicken. Over all it was a good day, unfortunately towards the end of the day we all have caught the sickness Littleman had been fighting this week.
