400 Finds!

This weekend was a whirlwind of travel and geocaching. Saturday began with a trip down memory lane. We went down to the bay to go to an alumni swim meet for a club team my wife grew up on.  While down we grabbed a cache at the old Tupperware store.  Funny to have a cache here since it is a common container.
Later we grabbed a tiny little cache near around the corner it was so cute I took a picture.
On the way back to Sacramento I grabbed a cache that was in tribute to the cacher with the most finds.  It was hilarious because they decorated the underside of a lamp post skirt. When you lifted it up there where bows and gold paint.  It was really funny....sorry no picture. After arriving in Sacramento a new cache popped up at the old Applebees we used to go to before it closed down. I was second to the find and again no picture.
Saturday came and I had only nine to go through to get to 400. The morning started with a new cache on a bike trail. I took a few minutes to ready my bike and then I was off in the truck.  Arrived then rode into the hide location and found the cache.  I was third but it was a fun trek.
Kept riding around this area looking for other caches on this trail. Was able to find one more and DNFed another two. When I loaded the bike I was spent.
My wife and child are out of town, so I decided to go to the movies. When it was out I grabbed the cache that is right there. I had DNFed this one twice before so it was nice to finally get.
Since I was without child I decided to go for a few more that would be impossible with a 2 year old. The caches included parking then lots of walking. At this location the women in the picture came out to heckle me.  She knew where it was and told me I was looking in the wrong place.
I grabbed one more after this one and was at 399. I thought that I will rush out to grab an FTF if one is posted tonight.  At that moment the email came in and I was in pursuit. It about 20 minutes from my location so I was not sure if I would be fast enough. After a couple of wrong turns I finally made it to ground zero.  I was alone so with vigor I started searching. I then had someone heckle me, luckily it was the cache owner MurrayClan. For those not playing, when you hide one you still own it and are responsible for keeping it up. Adding logs or replacing or repairing it if something happens. With encouragement and motivation from MurrayClan I was able to grab the cache and ink the FTF. While chatting TrekD arrived while on his way out to dinner. A few minutes later turuthok showed and we all chatted for a while. Next to finding and signing the log my second favorite part of the game is randomly meeting other player and sharing stories. While on the way home I shot one quick pic to capture the 400 moment. Ya its not a great picture, it seems like as the day goes on I get more tired and forget to take pics.  It was a heck of a day!
