What a Day!

Today started out with a plan to be in the Bay Area for the evening. Shortly before leaving my 13 year old dog did not seem to want to go. We had to go down for a few hours, so we reluctantly went, leaving her behind. Always of course worried because we know that a 13 year old Lab mix is a very old dog.
On the way down, we decided to grab a cache in Dixon just off of the road.  This was just in case the trip didn't afford us another shot.
This one was not very exciting, large magnetic cache on the back of a street sign. In the summer it would have been better because it is near a fruit stand. Typically when one is on such a sign it is a micro, or very small cache. This one was about the size of a hockey puck and was not hidden in anyway. I am guessing the farmers either know about it or are just to busy to notice. My son missed this cache.

We left, drove to the bay and visited with my Grandmother.
After the visit and lunch with the family, we took my sister out to show her what this hobby is all about.  The first cache we went for had not been found in a few attempts, so we abandoned the hunt. We quickly found another, .1 miles away (that is the distance required between caches) and took her on her first hunt. Got to ground zero and Teri found it very quickly and took pictures, she is amazing.

Worried about the dog we left and headed home.  We witnessed a four alarm fire on the way home.

Upon arrival home the dog was great and back to normal.  Noticed the time and realized we can still make the caching event that starts at 6. We ran to Costco grabbed a sushi tray and headed to the event.  Walking in we had no idea of what to expect. We were very timid at first as we have only met a handful of cachers.

The event was great, maybe 80 cachers in attendance, and we met or saw many of the people whose names we see on the logs. A few of them had hidden many of the caches we found. There were people from a couple months old to well.....older. They had a potluck, fun game with prizes, and raffle that we won a cache.  We had great conversation all night and right upon leaving someone asked, "Don't you write a blog?" It was surreal to hear that and got me excited to write again. Thanks for reading Pyropixie. Then I realized we went the whole night not taking pictures so I snapped one at the exit. It was great to meet and share a table with Owlandpussycat, TJHoopers, and sdskipper.
